This is a fabulous Victorian era hand painted memorial brooch set in an ornate gold (tested) frame with a glass compartment on the back for hair. There is a brownish material inside the compartment that is very tightly woven and I don't think it is hair, but I could be wrong. The circular glare on the portrait is from my circular overhead light. A rare find in such fine condition!
